FRAME SIZE FOR AN 11×14 PHOTO
The 11×14 inch print (27.9×35.6 cm) is a favourite for fine art photography, matted prints, and exhibition pieces. It is large enough to make an impact on its own but still manageable for framing and hanging. Many photographers sell edition prints at 11×14 because it balances visual presence with affordable framing costs. Without a mount, you need an 11×14 inch frame. With a 2.5-inch mount border, the frame becomes 16×19 inches. The calculator below handles any mount width.

WHERE TO HANG AN 11×14 PRINT
An 11×14 print is a versatile medium-format piece that works almost anywhere. In a living room, hang it on its own on a narrow wall section (50–70 cm wide) or as part of a mixed-size gallery wall. Above a desk or writing table, a single 11×14 print at seated eye level creates a focused, personal display. In a dining room, a pair of 11×14 prints side by side with an 8 cm gap spans about 65 cm — clean and symmetrical above a sideboard. This size excels in bedrooms: above the headboard (centred, 15 cm above the headboard top) or on the wall facing the bed as the first thing you see in the morning. Bathrooms work too, provided you keep the print away from direct moisture.

FRAMING TIPS
11×14 is the sweet spot for photography prints — large enough for detail, small enough for affordable framing. A slim-to-medium moulding (15–25 mm) works well. Black frames are the classic choice for photography; natural wood (oak, walnut) suits fine art and illustration. For exhibition-quality framing, use a 3-inch mount with museum glass (anti-reflective, UV-filtering). This adds cost but makes a dramatic difference to how the print looks under lighting.
