A4 is the paper size everyone knows — 21×29.7 cm (8.27×11.69 inches). It is the standard for certificates, digital art prints sold on Etsy, and photography proofs. Because people associate A4 with office paper, framing it well is essential to make it feel like art rather than a document. A mount helps enormously here: it signals that this is a deliberate display piece. Without a mount, you need an A4 frame (21×29.7 cm). With a 5 cm mount border, you will need a 31×39.7 cm frame. WHERE TO HANG AN A4 PRINT
A4 is a small-to-medium print that works in bedrooms, home offices, hallways, and bathrooms. Above a desk, hang it so the centre is at seated eye level (about 110 cm from the floor). In a hallway, group two or three A4 prints in a horizontal row with 5–8 cm gaps between frames. This spans about 80–100 cm and fills a narrow wall without overwhelming it. Bathrooms suit A4 well — mount the print opposite the mirror or above the towel rail, away from direct water splash. In a bedroom, a single A4 print above the bedside table adds a personal touch. For a gallery wall, use A4 as your mid-tier size alongside A5 and A3 prints, keeping the A-series proportions consistent for a harmonious look. Kitchen walls work too — hang it away from the hob and out of steam’s reach, ideally behind glass for easy cleaning.

FRAMING TIPS
A4 frames are the easiest size to find on the high street. IKEA stocks several ranges (FISKBO, RIBBA, LOMVIKEN) at budget-friendly prices. For a premium finish, look at solid wood frames from specialist framers. A slim moulding (15–20 mm) suits A4 well. Avoid ornate or chunky mouldings at this size — they draw attention to the frame rather than the artwork. White or off-white mounts are the safe choice. If the print has warm tones, try a cream mount; for cool-toned or black-and-white images, stick with bright white.
