How to do Low Lunge
A beginner standing pose, step by step.
- 1From Downward Dog, step your right foot forward between your hands.
- 2Lower your left knee to the mat and slide the left foot back until you feel a stretch in the front of the hip.
- 3Rise up onto your fingertips or sweep the arms overhead.
- 4Sink the hips gently forward and down, front knee over the ankle.
- 5Lift the chest and reach up, keeping the lower ribs drawing in.
Alignment tips
- →Pad the back knee with a folded blanket if it's tender.
- →Tuck the tailbone slightly so the stretch stays in the hip flexor, not the lower back.
